Acupuncture

Classical Acupuncture
Classical Acupuncture is one of the oldest continuously practiced healing systems in the
world. This system of medicine is very effective in restoring and maintaining health.
Acupuncture follows the natural laws that describe the flow of energy in nature and in
the body. This energy, called Qi (pronounce chee), flows throughout the body along
specific pathways called meridians. When our qi is obstructed or unbalanced, we
experience pain and illness. Acupuncture treatments influence the qi and thereby help
us return to balance. Qi is accessible to the Acupuncture Physician through points along
the surface of the skin. The qi can be influenced by inserting needles or applying heat to
these points. This stimulates the body’s natural healing processes and restores the
proper flow of energy throughout the body.

Your First Visit
Your first visit is devoted to gathering information about your medical history, your
physical and emotional state. We will explore the life events which contributed to your
disease process. Through this process we will be able to identify the areas in you body,
mind, and spirit that need help and attention. Following this process you will get your
first individualized acupuncture treatment. Each treatment after that will be tailored to
balance your energy and increase your vitality. Frequency of treatments depends on
your individual needs, typically beginning twice per week, tapering off to a seasonal
treatment to assist you in maintaining the health and balance that has been achieved.
Acupuncture needles are solid stainless steel. They are nearly as thin as a human hair.
The needles are pre-sterilized and disposable.
